A Classic: The (American) Champagne Cocktail

This recipe from Epicurious. You can also add Brandy or Cognac and a black maraschino cherry to make this a most traditional cocktail. Use any champagne you like. I try this with two split size bottles to see what, if any real difference in taste an dover all flavor profile may be. I use Moet Chandon and Verve Yellow Label. I prefer the lemon twist.

***The non-alcoholic version can be made with ginger beer or club soda. All are refreshing and excite the tastebuds.

YIELD: Makes 1 serving

  • 1 sugar cube
  • Angostura bitters
  • Champagne
  • Lemon or orange twist, for garnish

  1. Soak the sugar cube in Angostura bitters and drop into a champagne flute. Top with a luxury champagne or a sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon or orange twist.
