Salty Southern Summer Snack

Nobody seems to really know how this snack came about. From what I find, sometime around the Civil War? I’ll keep asking around. Until then and what is important is that we have the recipe and know the boiled peanuts.

Recipe can be modified to quantity that best suits you..

My nieces an nephews enjoy their peanuts with Dunkin’ Donuts Iced coffees and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

And for your shopping convenience should you want to try this Southern snack you can go here to my Amazon Store for the goods: 80 Qt. Cooker and burner, Peanuts, Dunkin’ Coffee, Reese’s, Colander, Dish Towels, Countertop Compost and Mitts for hand protection…

Outdoor cooker
80 quart pot

1 bushel of peanuts
1 1/2 box of salt ( I like Kosher Salt)

Set up the cooker
Place 80 Qt. pot on the cooker
Put the peanuts into the pot
Fill pot with water (leave a few inches from the top)

Add 1 1/2 boxes of table salt (I like Kosher)
Cook 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until the peanuts are done
Let the peanuts sit in the salt water until the peanuts have the right amount of salt that suits your taste.

Remove the peanuts from the water, let them cool. Place them in freezer zipped lock bags.
You may freeze them up to one year.

When you are ready to eat your peanuts take them out run hot water over them until defrosted

Enjoy your delicious peanuts. Think about elephants.

Until Next Time..
